Therapy that helps you see yourself honestly, reconnect with your own strength, and move forward with your life.
Michael Walecki is a Registered Psychotherapist based in Mississauga, Ontario, with over a decade of experience working with men who've written off therapy, tried it and quit, or are coming to it for the first time under real pressure.
He came to this work having done significant personal work himself — and that grounded self-knowledge shows up in every session. He doesn't hide behind clinical language or a neutral face. He brings himself into the room, selectively and purposefully, in service of the person across from him.
His clinical approach is built on a simple architecture: regulate the nervous system, excavate the belief underneath the behaviour, then build specific and actionable next steps.
He works across CBT, EMDR, mindfulness, somatic and polyvagal-informed approaches, and solution-focused therapy — but the framework is always secondary to the person in the room. He reads the client, not the protocol.
What makes him genuinely different is that men stay. They come back. They disclose things they've never told anyone — infidelity, addiction, shame, suicidal ideation, childhood wounds — and they do it because the room feels safe without feeling soft. He's direct. He challenges. He holds you to the commitments you make. And he does it all without judgment.
He works with men of all ages, across diverse cultural, political, religious, and occupational backgrounds. His caseload spans addiction recovery, trauma processing, relationship crisis, burnout, grief, identity work, and legal and insurance navigation.
He is based in Mississauga and sees clients in-person and online across Canada.
Every client — regardless of history or how long a pattern has been running — receives a forward-facing homework assignment. Change is always the assumption.
Not the behaviour. The shame underneath it. Michael consistently differentiates shame from guilt — and treats shame as the clinical target, not a moral verdict.
A consistent preference for 2-minute tasks over ambitious overhauls. The bar is set low enough to guarantee success — and high enough to matter.
Nervous system regulation before cognitive work — every time. Without it, insight doesn't land and nothing sticks.
He holds clients to their commitments while simultaneously dismantling self-attack cycles. Both things at once, every session.
Warmth with clients disclosing infidelity, violence, addiction, illegal activity — zero judgment. The relationship is the medium of healing.
When your nervous system is calm, you can actually see clearly — and that's when real change becomes possible.
Identify what's actually happening — the behaviours, reactions, and loops — without judgment or labels. Not what's "wrong," just what's repeating.
Every pattern is driven by a belief about yourself. We go straight to that belief — the quiet assumption shaping how you think, feel, and act.
Just one clear reframe that fits your experience. Something accurate enough that it lands, and simple enough that it sticks.
Change doesn't come from insight alone — it comes from evidence. Small, specific actions between sessions create proof that the old belief isn't the full story anymore.
"Having gone through many therapists over the years, I still carried doubt about whether therapy was truly worth it. Then I met Michael Walecki, and I can honestly say it has been life-changing."
